Waiting in long lines at one of Central Florida’s screaming theme parks can often be tedious. Sometimes, we want to do something a little more relaxing. Adventure Tours, which was started in October, 2003 by Clermont resident Captain Susan Ireland, gives folks an opportunity to do just that. The trip takes visitors on a narrated boat tour to Silver Springs and is filled with beautiful backwaters, wildlife in its natural habitat and a plethora of flora and fauna. “I take six passengers at a time, so it’s a really personable trip,” Captain Susan said. “They can ask all the questions they want, and it is a great opportunity to take photographs. Everybody enjoys seeing a part of Florida that you can’t see by driving on Highway 27. It’s an ideal trip for nature lovers, bird watchers and shutterbugs. The trip departs from Nelson’s Fish Camp at 9:00 a.m. and follows a scenic route up the Ocklawaha and Silver Rivers to Silver Springs. The safari ends at 4:00 p.m. Passengers will encounter exotic wildlife such as deer, alligators, raccoons, otters, hawks and bald eagles. They’ll also likely see rhesus monkeys, which are relatives of the monkeys used in old Tarzan movies. Bring your cameras because you never know what will be the experience of the day. Good luck!
